ILLINOIS PROGRESS, THANKS TO YOU

Dear County Chairs and friends,

What a session! It is the start of summer and the 101st Illinois General Assembly brought the heat and energy. The 101st is on record to be the most progressive legislative session in our history. This is because YOU helped elect the 2018 Blue Wave. Your efforts to turnout the vote, which elected a Democratic Governor, Lt. Governor, every constitutional office, and super majorities in the Illinois General Assembly, provided the mandate necessary to pass among others – the $15 Minimum Wage, a Balanced Budget, Fair Tax, Cannabis Reform, the Reproductive Health Act, and the first Infrastructure Bill in years.

Elections have consequences. Every Democrat counts. Every Democratic vote counts.

The energy and sense of purpose has touched all branches of state government. Democrats are dedicated to correcting the ills left by Rauner. The message is clear, Illinois is back and open for business.

Of course, the next task is for us to ensure the facts about these initiatives are disseminated. Information can be found at the IDCCA  or from Think Big Illinois .

It is equally important we hold those on the other side of the aisle who did not choose to support Illinois accountable. Who still refuse to bring stability to Illinois. Who only offer no votes, with no solution. Who forget they are to represent all their constituencies.

Last month, the IDCCA, in conjunction with the National Democratic Training Committee , held our biggest and most ambitious Boot Camp with three training tracks. You can read about it in this newsletter. Thank you to Governor JB PritzkerSenator Dick Durbin, Treasurer Mike Frerichs, and State Senator Rachelle Crowe for sharing your insight with our trainees.

We also held a productive IDCCA General Membership meeting where the IDCCA unanimously passed a resolution to promote the purchase of American-made, union-friendly products, and pro-union commerce among our statewide network of thousands of Illinois Democrats.  Thank you to all the Chairs who attended or sent a representative to the meeting.

The start of summer also brings the must attend, almost sold out, Young Professionals IDCCA Summer Brews fundraiser hosted by Greg Bales and Zach Koutsky. Details can be found here: IDCCA Summer Brews.  I hope to see you there!

I don’t see the lazy hazy days of summer coming anytime soon. Keep abreast of all that is going on by liking our Facebook page and visiting IDCCA Events. Please feel free to encourage others to sign-up for our newsletter at IDCCA Newsletter.

Best wishes,

Kristina
