LOCAL ILLINOIS DEMOCRATS HAVE HISTORIC NIGHT
Voters push back on the Trump / Musk MAGA agenda to elect Democrats throughout Illinois

Springfield, IL – On Tuesday, April 1st, voters headed to the polls throughout Illinois and delivered a message to the Trump / Musk Administration. Democrats won for school board, village board, township, and mayor. For the first time in decades, many areas of Illinois will be represented by Democrats on the local level.

Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association (IDCCA) President Mark Guethle released the following statement:

“What we’ve seen in other states, what we saw in Wisconsin, and what we saw throughout Illinois was not an April’s Fools Day joke. Illinois voters pushed back against the Trump / Musk Administration and their attempts to dismantle our democracy. County Democratic Parties have been working since November to give our candidates the best opportunity to win, and those efforts paid off with historic wins. These election results send a clear message that voters want positive change, and not the reckless destruction of our country.”

The IDCCA has continued its strong partnership with the Democratic Party of Illinois to help with candidate recruitment, training, and resources. This partnership was able to help support historic wins in Champaign, DuPage, Jackson, Kane, Knox, McLean, and Sangamon County. The IDCCA is excited to continue to expand these efforts as we recruit and train local candidates for the 2026 election.
