IL Dem Chairs Call on GOP Statewide Candidates to Answer Basic Question:

Do you believe Joe Biden was elected President in a free and fair election?

Voters deserve to know what Kathy Salvi, Dan Brady, Tom Demmer, and Shannon Teresi believe

Springfield, IL
– The Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association (IDCCA) is calling on Republican candidates Kathy Salvi (US Senate), Dan Brady (Secretary of State), Tom Demmer (Treasurer), and Shannon Teresi (Comptroller) to publicly answer a basic question:

Do they believe that Joe Biden was elected President in a free and fair election?

As Trump extremism spreads throughout Illinois, voters deserve to know whether these candidates believe in the Big Lie which continues to be pushed by the Illinois Republican Party, or do they believe voters turned out in record numbers in repudiation of the hateful Trump rhetoric and in support of President Joe Biden.

IDCCA President Kristina Zahorik released the following statement:

“Voters have a right to know if GOP candidates Kathy Salvi, Dan Brady, Tom Demmer, and Shannon Teresi support democracy by answering a simple question. Do they believe Joe Biden was elected President in a free and fair election? An election where three of them were also elected to local office. Or do they believe in Trump’s Big Lie?”

In the wake of the January 6th Commission hearings, voters need to have confidence their elected officials will stand for the rule of law and uphold our democracy. State Senator and candidate for Governor Darren Bailey has already fully embraced the extremist mantra of Donald Trump. Will Kathy Salvi, Dan Brady, Tom Demmer, and Shannon Teresi tag along with Bailey?

The IDCCA calls on every Republican candidate for federal, state, and local office to answer this basic question before the November General Election. Voters in every county deserve to know what these candidates believe and whether they support American democracy.
