Esther Joy King Wants a Second Chance to Take Away Your Health Care

Springfield, IL Today, Esther Joy King has announced her intention to run for Congress again in the 17th Congressional District. Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association President Kristina Zahorik released the following statement:

“Esther Joy King supported the lawsuit that would have eliminated protections for people with preexisting conditions and taken away health care from residents of the 17th District during a global health pandemic. The job of a member of Congress is to help your constituents, not hurt them. This alone should make Esther Joy King disqualified to serve in public office. Full stop.”

In 2020 when Esther Joy King moved from Chicago to the 17th District to run and lose for Congress, she supported the lawsuit that would have struck down the Affordable Care Act. Previous estimates on the loss of health insurance if the ACA was repealed showed upwards of 43,700 residents of the 17th Congressional District losing coverage.
