I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs and now I am a unionized landscaper for a local school. I moved to Bloomington about 20 years ago and my wife and I have worked to support Illinois’ students ever since.
Bruce Rauner’s failures as governor leave me worried for the future. I’m worried that if Rauner gets re-elected, I won’t have a union to protect me in the workplace. And I’m afraid Rauner’s budget mismanagement means my pension won’t be there when I need it. My wife retired recently, and I plan to retire in 10 years, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to. We should be enjoying our lives and making plans for our future, but because of Bruce Rauner we are unsure what the future looks like.
JB Pritzker will be a different type of governor. I know he will keep the state’s promise to pay my pension and look out for our working families. Instead of holding education funding hostage, I know he will support full funding for our school districts. JB Pritzker will be a governor who will protect unions and people like my family. His plans to better Illinois will give both students and retirees the help they need to thrive.
